Nuit Blanche (!!)
Nuit Blanche is less than a week away! Last year I was going nuts as a Programming Assistant the City for the event, but this year I’m looking forward to enjoying it. The contemporary art nerdgasms start tonight with the first Nuit Talk, a lecture series in which contemporary art experts participate in panel discussions which are free to watch and feature a Q & A with the audience at the end. Last year’s were all extremely interesting, and even got a little heated at times… not to be missed! See you tonight at Ryerson for “The Tech Talk.” http://www.scotiabanknuitblanche.ca/nuitTalks.shtml P.S. I plan on writing a bit about Nuit Blanche as a whole, from a former (still partially) insider perspective. Stay tuned.
Art and Drinks
A brilliant new bar/cafe concept based around video installation is opening this Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Dundas and Palmerston, from 6-11 pm. Last week I got the chance to chat with the artist and man behind it, John Oswald, and am really excited— it’s a way for people from all backgrounds to experience video art in a unique, non-gallery setting. Featuring video work by Michael Snow, David Rokeby, John Oswald, Renee Lear, Bettina Hoffman, and Max Dean.
